The Mayor is elected by residents of the municipality he or she represents to serve a term of four years, and is considered the Chief Executive Officer of that municipality. The Mayor works with the City Council to provide their city or town with the best possible municipal government. Together they enact ordinances, adopt budgets, and determine municipal policies.

City Hall

The Town of Brookwood was incorporated in 1977 and operated for a time without a town hall, holding town council meetings in the conference room of what was then First Alabama Bank.  In 1986, the first town hall was built next door to town park on Highway 216. It also housed the fire and police departments. Some years later, town hall was partially destroyed by fire but was rebuilt at the same location. With the growth of the town, it was determined that a new town hall was needed. In 2016, Brookwood purchased the old Regions Bank building where the mayor and town council first met. Coming full circle, the building was renamed Brookwood Municipal Complex. It now houses city hall, council chambers and municipal court.

City Council

City Council is the legislative branch of local government. Our council proposes and adopts ordinances and resolutions which govern life within the City of Brookwood. There are 5 seats on the council and each seat is filled with a member who is elected by the citizens of Brookwood during regular municipal elections. Together with the mayor, City Council works to guard the interests of our community.
